Check and replacement of spark plugs. Check of a condition of high-voltage wires

Address also to the Section of the Spark plug.

Replace spark plugs only on cold or slightly warm engine. If candles are turned out on the hot engine, a thread of the head of cylinders made of light metal can be stripped.

Before work prepare all necessary tools. Some producers of spark plugs deliver special tools for measurement of a candle gap.

  • Candle key on 16 mm, for example, HAZET 4766-1 or AUDI-3122B.
  • If necessary, AUDI T40039 stripper for ignition coils.
  • Depending on number of cylinders of the engine necessary quantity of spark plugs. The applied spark plugs are listed in Specifications.

The best way of replacement of spark plugs is preliminary purchase of new candles, adjustment of their gap and replacement of each candle in turn. Upon purchase of candles it is very important to choose those candles which are intended for the engine of your car. Information on them is provided in Specifications.

Having near at hand new candles, let's the engine cool down completely before removal of the old. During this time it is possible to examine new candles on existence in them of defects and to check candle gaps.

Security measures: Do not concern the parts which are under a high voltage. The persons having a warm stimulator should not carry out any works with electronic system of ignition.

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Switch off ignition.
  1. Remove the top cover of the engine, address to the Section Removal and installation of the top cover of the engine / the lower protection of a motive compartment / stretcher.
  1. Disunite sockets (1) of spark plugs (an illustration - the Engine of 1.6 l).
  1. Disunite connecting plugs (1) coils of ignition (an illustration - the Engine of 1.6 l).
  1. Disconnect rod coils of ignition from spark plugs, for example, AUDI T40039 stripper.

Stripper of T40039 install surely on the most top, thick edge (an arrow on an accompanying illustration) coils of ignition and pull up. At installation on the lower edge it can be damaged.

Engine of 2.0 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Turn out bolts (1).
  1. Disunite sockets (2) coils of ignition.
  1. Remove strezhnevy coils of ignition (3), as on the engine of 1.8 l, from spark plugs, for example, T40039 stripper.

Engine of 3.0 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the top part of the air filter, address to the Section Removal and installation of the air filter.
  2. Disconnect a broad tank of cooling liquid from the holder and take him aside with the attached hoses.
  1. Turn out screws (1). On an accompanying illustration the right number of cylinders is shown.
  1. Disunite sockets (2) coils of ignition (3).
  2. Disconnect rod coils of ignition (3), as at the engine of 1.8 l, from spark plugs, for example, by means of T40039 stripper.

Engine of 4.2 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the air filter.
  2. Remove the left top cover of a motive compartment.
  3. Disconnect a broad tank of cooling liquid from the holder and take him aside with the attached hoses.
  1. Turn out screws (1). On an accompanying illustration the right number of cylinders is shown.
  1. Disunite sockets (2) coils of ignition.
  2. Disconnect rod coils of ignition (3), as at the engine of 1.8 l, from spark plugs, for example, by means of T40039 stripper.

All engines

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Turn out spark plugs by means of the corresponding candle key, for example, to HAZET 4766-1 or AUDI. Thus watch that the candle key did not warp. Otherwise it can lead to destruction of a ceramic insulator.

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Compare the taken-out candle with shown in pictures in the Head of System of electric equipment of the engine, it will give you useful information about the general condition of the engine.
  2. Check the probe interelectrode distance. On illustrations the candle with one electrode of weight is shown. The demanded value of a gap is given in Specifications.

At new candles the interelectrode distance is, as a rule, established correctly.

  1. For installation of distance between contacts turn in the corresponding electrode of weight. For this purpose knock on it sideways. At a podgibaniye oboprit a small screw-driver about edge of a carving. Do not lean at all about the central electrode as it can be damaged.
  2. Apply a little cupriferous anti-taking structure on a carving of a new candle.

Installation

Establish a candle in a head of cylinders and screw it fingers against the stop, then tighten by means of a head of a candle key.

In order to avoid possibility of a vvinchivaniye of a candle not on a carving put on a small piece of a rubber hose or a plastic tube its shaft. The flexible tube will work as universal - the cardan hinge, providing alignment of a candle in relation to a candle nest and in case the candle starts warping, the hose will slip on it, without giving the chance to strip a thread.

If it is possible, use a dinamometrichesky key for a candle tightening to be sure that it is established correctly. The effort of a tightening of candles is given in Specifications. If the dinamometrichesky key available is not present, tighten new candles on a corner 90 °, the candles which were in the use - on 15 °. Too strongly tightened candles at a reversing can damage a carving in a head of cylinders. In this case repair of a carving is made by means of inserts of UTC or Heli-Coil.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Further installation is carried out in sequence, the return to removal.
  2. All engines, except 1.6 l: Install ignition coils by easy turn. They have to be recorded distinctly.
  3. Engine of 1.6 l: Join sockets. Then check reliability of fastening of wires and sockets.
  4. Establish into place the top cover of the engine, address to the Section Removal and installation of the top cover of the engine / the lower protection of a motive compartment / stretcher.
