Replacement of cooling liquid

Cooling liquid has to be replaced only in case of repair of the cooling system of the engine if thus liquid merged. Replacement of liquid within carrying out maintenance is not provided. If when carrying out repair the head of cylinders, sealing laying of a head of cylinders, a radiator, the heat exchanger or the engine were replaced, cooling liquid has to be replaced anyway. It is necessary for the reason that corrosion and protective components of liquid in process extra earnings are besieged on engine elements from easy alloys and thus form long-term anticorrosive protection. At the cooling liquid which was in operation corrosion and protective components already substantially are spent and cannot create sufficient protection on new details.

The merged cooling liquid should not be applied again. Cooling liquid is poisonous and should not merge with household waste.

Removal of cooling liquid

At engines 2.0, 4.2 of l (AWA, BBK) the cooling system is filled with liquid on HUNDRED by means of the vacuum pump. If necessary, on HUNDRED of the cooling system air is removed.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the lower cover of a motive compartment, address to the Section Removal and installation of the top cover of the engine / the lower protection of a motive compartment / stretcher.

When opening a broad tank on the hot engine cover a tank with a thick rag to exclude emission of hot liquid and steam. It is allowed to uncover only at a temperature of liquid below + 90 °C.

  1. Open a cover of a broad tank.
  2. Substitute capacity under a radiator.
  1. Engines 1.6, 1.8, 1.9, 2.5 of l and engine of 2.0 l of ALT: Completely merge cooling liquid from a radiator. For this purpose take out a lock bracket (1) sensor of temperature of cooling liquid (2) of the lower hose and take out the sensor.
  1. L engine 1.9, 2.4, 3.0: If on a radiator there is a drain stopper (2), turn it to the left and merge cooling liquid.

That to direct cooling liquid to a certain place, put on an auxiliary hose the drain union. If the drain stopper is not present, merge cooling liquid through an opening for the sensor of temperature (3). For this purpose take out a lateral lock bracket and then take out temperature sensor.

  1. All engines except 2.0 l of FSI (AWA), 4.2 l (VVK) and the diesel of 2.5 l: Release a collar and displace it completely back. Remove a hose from a radiator (the shooter on an accompanying illustration) and merge the liquid remains. Then at once again put on a hose and fix it a collar.

On an illustration the petrol engine is shown.

  1. Engine of 2.0 l of AWA: Open a drain stopper (1) on a pipe of a radiator and merge the remains of cooling liquid. Then at once close it. (2) – a fastening nut, (3) - an oil filter.

Diesel engine of 2.5 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Merge cooling liquid from the engine. For this purpose turn out a drain stopper (2 on an accompanying illustration). (1) – a lock bracket for the thermal switch (the switch is already taken out).
  1. Remove a hose of cooling liquid on a radiator on the left side of the engine. For this purpose open a collar (1) flat-nose pliers, for example, HAZET 798-5 and displace it completely back.

Hoses (2) and (3) should not be removed.

  1. Engine of 4.2 l of VVK: Turn out a drain stopper on the case of the thermostat and completely merge cooling liquid.
  1. After all liquid merged, again insert the sensor of temperature of cooling liquid into the lower hose and record it a lock bracket. On engines 1.9, 2.4, 3.0 of l tighten a drain stopper.
  1. Put on a hose a radiator and record it a collar.

Filling of system with cooling liquid

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Prepare cooling liquid from 50% of drinking water and 50% of means for protection against freezing and corrosion of VW/AUDI.
  2. Remove the lower cover of a motive compartment, address to the Section Removal and installation of the top cover of the engine / the lower protection of a motive compartment / stretcher.
  3. Lower the car on wheels.
  4. Fill system with cooling liquid through a broad tank.

Engines of 2.0 l (ALT), 2.4 and 3.0 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Screw on a broad tank the AUDI 1274/9 union with an auxiliary hose of Ø 42 mm and 100 mm long or AUDI 1274/8 (In) with the extender 1274/10 (A).

The union serves to exclude a liquid modulation after start of the engine. If the specified union available is not present, it can be made independently. Instead it is also possible to remove from the holder a broad tank, to lift it on height of 10 cm with the attached hoses and to fix it in this situation by a wire.

  1. Uncover a water-collecting compartment, address to the Section Removal and installation of a cover of a water-collecting compartment.

Engine of 2.0 l (ALT) and diesel engine of 1.9 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Release a collar of the top hose and displace it back. Displace a heater hose back so that the air vent in a hose (an arrow on an accompanying illustration) was not closed by the connecting union.
  1. Open a ventilation stopper (the shooter on an accompanying illustration) on a pipe of cooling liquid.
  1. Fill system with liquid so that she acted through air vents.
  1. Close points of removal of air in sequence of an exit of cooling liquid.

L engines 2.4, 3.0

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove a forward cover of the engine (an arrow on an accompanying illustration).
  1. Turn out a ventilating stopper (the shooter on an accompanying illustration).
  1. Fill system with cooling liquid so that she acted at an air vent.
  1. Screw a ventilating stopper with a new sealing ring and tighten it the moment 15nm.
  1. Open a collar of the top hose of a heater and displace it back. Delay a hose of a heater back so that the air vent in a hose of cooling liquid (the shooter on an accompanying illustration) was not closed by the connecting union.

Diesel engine of 2.5 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Unscrew on a wall of a motive compartment approximately on 2 turns unions for removal of air from heater hoses (the shooter on an accompanying illustration).
  1. Fill system with cooling liquid so that she acted at unions for removal of air. Several times squeeze hands the top thick hose. It promotes release of air. Tighten unions for removal of air.

All engines

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Close a broad tank.
  2. Start the engine and establish approximately for 3 min. 2.000 rpm.
  3. Then let's the engine work on single turns so much that the lower hose of a radiator heated up.

When opening a broad tank on the hot engine cover a tank with a thick rag that will exclude emission of hot liquid and steam. It is allowed to uncover only at a temperature of liquid below + 90 °C.

  1. Check the level of cooling liquid and, if necessary, add it to MAX mark.
  2. On the heated-up engine the level of liquid has to be on MAX mark, on the cold engine between marks of MAX and MIN.
  3. Stop the engine.
